As ACT1 has grown over the last few years, it became clear that continued future growth would be sustainable only if ACT1 became a stand-alone entity. Currently, ACT1 has no legal existence; it is not a corporation, but a ministry and outreach of Alpharetta Presbyterian Church (“APC”).

ACT1 leadership has long discussed the possibility of ACT1 becoming a stand-alone 501(c)(3) corporation, which would, in addition to providing several other advantages, enable ACT1 to establish infrastructure for outside fundraising and to begin seeking grants. APC leadership, however, decided ACT1 should remain a drama ministry under its umbrella.

Thus, Arcadia Theater was created to take over ACT1’s public-facing community theater productions. This will allow ACT1 to be a drama ministry by the members of APC for the members of APC while the providing the growing community theater what it needs to continue its growth.

ACT1’s 2024-2025 Season will be produced with Arcadia Theater as its partner. For the 2025-2026 Season, Arcadia Theater will announce its very own season in place of ACT1’s.

Additionally, for the 2024-2025 Season, Arcadia will produce a series of shows in The Spotlight, Alpharetta’s Performing Arts Space at North Point Mall, as well as initiating a Youth Theater Educational Program there. This will be done in partnership with ACT1 and the City of Alpharetta.
